Exercise as a treatment for depression: A meta-analysis, 2016
This meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (23 RCTs and 977 participants) studied the effectiveness of exercise as a treatment for unipolar depression, and as an independent intervention, and as an additional intervention to antidepressant treatment.
Conclusions: Exercise is an effective intervention for depression, and can also be a useful adjuvant treatment in combination with anti-depressants.
